Dunn County (WQOW) - The case against a Colfax man accused of murdering his father is moving forward.

Ggary Styer, 51, is charged with 1st degree intentional homicide in the death of his father 78-year-old Edward Styer.

Police say Gary Styer used a 2x4 piece of wood to bludgeon his father to death in their home near Colfax last month.

Officials say Styer told them he killed his father following years of physical abuse as a child and emotional abuse that lasted into adulthood.

Thursday, Dunn County Captain Scott McRoberts was questioned before Judge James Peterson.

Peterson determined there was probable cause to bind the case over for trial. Gary Styer remains in custody on a $250,000 cash bond.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for March 11.
