Eau Claire (WQOW)- Thursday morning it will be bitterly cold in the Chippewa Valley, and officials are warning you to stay safe in the dangerously cold conditions.
Eau Claire Emergency Management Coordinator Tyler Esh said from 3 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday there's a wind chill advisory, with wind chills as low as 30 below zero.
Esh said it's important to dress appropriately Thursday and cover up because you could be at risk for frostbite, or even worse hypothermia.
"It's really crucial that you're warm, that you have dry clothes on," Esh said. "If you decide to play in the snow a little bit, get inside immediately and change afterward, put some clean clothes on, just stay warm to the best of your abilities."
Esh said it's important to make sure your gas tank is full when you're out on the road Thursday and keep a phone charger and blankets handy in case you get stranded.
