Eau Claire City Council approves Riverview Park improvements

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Eau Claire City Council approved $2M worth of improvements that will restrict access to parts of Riverview Park this summer.

The project will close Riverview Drive between Welsh Court and the North Boat Launch, while the improvements are underway.

City Engineer Dave Solberg said construction will being in July and continue into fall. He said he does not expect the project to affect boating or fishing in the spring and early summer. Solberg said the improvements are designed to improve walking and biking access to the park.

"We're very excited that we can take the regional park we have at Riverview Park and connect it to neighborhoods so you don't have to drive to get to it anymore," said Solberg. "And it will hopefully be used better by the neighborhoods."

Solberg said the boat launch will be closed during construction, but the park will still be partially accessible from the North Pavilion.
