Eau Claire (WQOW)- The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said right now they're testing five people for the Wuhan coronavirus, and HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital is prepared in case the virus makes its way to the Chippewa Valley.
Sue Galoff, the infection prevention manager at HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's Hospital, said they're in contact with the Eau Claire and Wisconsin health departments to keep updated on the coronavirus.
Galoff said they're also checking the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for updated information and recommendations.
She said if patients did have signs of the coronavirus they already know what they would do.
"We would recommend that a patient is in their own room," Galaff said. "We have special negative special rooms. Also, the healthcare worker would wear a gown, an N95 mask, and eye protection."
Galoff said their protocol could change depending on the new information they get from the CDC.
She said right now coronavirus isn't a big concern for them, they're more focused on influenza which is currently making its way through the community.
