(WQOW) - Another candidate has thrown her hat in the ring to unseat 12-term Congressman Ron Kind.

Republican Jessi Ebben, of Eau Claire, announced her candidacy on Friday. Ebben is a public relations professional at a local health care company. She grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from UW-Eau Claire.

Ebben said she's running because the district needs a fresh and new perspective, but also because this district is her home.

"The people I care about most, my family, my friends, neighbors, communities, I am very passionate about serving people, making sure their voices are heard," said Ebben. "I want to be a liaison to this district and their priorities in Washington D.C."

Those priorities include broadband expansion, water quality, health care, agriculture and more.

Ebben and fellow Republican John Garske will face off in a partisan primary on August 11.

The winner there will then face Democrat Representative Ron Kind in the general election in November.
