Ken Vance, longtime car dealership owner, dead at 79

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A man who spent decades working in the automobile industry in Eau Claire passed away Friday morning in Florida.

Ken Vance was 79 years old.

Vance and his family founded Ken Vance Motors in 1981, according to the company's website.

Vance's son Jason shared his thoughts on Facebook Friday morning calling his dad his "father, boss but most importantly (his) best friend.

Others in the automobile industry are reacting to the news.

Toycen Ford in Chippewa Falls released the following statement:

"As you may have heard, Ken Vance of Ken Vance Automotive passed away this morning. Ken was a good friend of our family. He was a warm, genuine man and a mentor to many in business in the Chippewa Valley. He helped set the tone for professionalism and how car dealerships should be run in the Chippewa Valley. He did much philanthropic work in our industry and outside, and led dealers in both our state and nationally in industry causes. He is a former Time Magazine Dealer of the Year and WATDA Dealer of the Year and was highly respected by his peers. Our family’s thoughts and prayers are with the Vance family as they mourn Ken’s passing. We are grateful for having known Ken and will not forget the impact he has made on the Chippewa Valley. "
