Eau Claire (WQOW) - Families in Eau Claire made the most of their Saturday, despite the weather.

The YMCA hosted its annual Family Fest filled with activities, games, sports and some furry friends even put on a show.

The Y's sports center director, Amy Peterson-Foss, said the event is an excuse for families to get out the house and burn off some energy that gets built up when its too cold to go outside.

"It's so important to get out there, get the fresh air, get around other people," said Peterson-Foss. "A lot of times when it's snowy we tend to stay in that compact space, and expend that energy and have such a really cool awesome day of playing together."

She added the festival is also a great way for families to make some special memories together while learning something new.
