Eau Claire (WQOW)- The 2020 USA Curling Junior National Championships kicked off Monday in Eau Claire, and it's expected to bring in thousands of tourism dollars.

The competition is being hosted at the Eau Claire Curling Club with 75 curlers, including four UW-Eau Claire students facing off for titles.

Jason Krueger with Visit Eau Claire said they're expecting 200-300 people will be coming to Eau Claire for this event.

Krueger expects the week-long event will bring in around $195,000 to the city.

"It's important to get that year-round tourism it's great for the community as a whole," Krueger said. "It's great for all the hotels and local businesses and then just being able to showcase what Eau Claire truly has to offer even during the winter season."

Krueger said hotels will be hard to book this week with all of the extra foot traffic in Eau Claire.

The tournament runs through the 18th.
