Menomonie (WQOW) - Ted's Pizza Palace in Menomonie is getting a free makeover.

On Monday, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation chose Ted's to win $10,000 to renovate the restaurant.

Officials said they plan to add more seating, online ordering and upgrade the dining area.

The decision was based on specific criteria, such as being a part of a historic downtown, how long the company has been in business and potential for the upgrades.

Ted's owners said they're thrilled to be selected because they are celebrating 50 years in business.

Menomonie (WQOW) - A local restaurant icon may be up for a makeover. Ted's Pizza Palace in Menomonie is one of five finalists for a free $10,000 renovation.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation's annual contest focuses on the 34 communities that are a part of the state main street program.

The decision is based on specific criteria, such as being a part of a historic downtown, how long the company has been in business and potential for the upgrades.

Ted's owners said they're thrilled to be selected as a finalist, especially because this year is a big anniversary for the restaurant.

"It's a huge honor to be in the top five," Dmitri and Kim Gounikis said. "We're celebrating 50 years in business this year, so that's super exciting for us. We've worked really hard but we're also so blessed to be living and working in a great community like Menomonie."

If Ted's wins, upgrades would include more seating, online ordering and upgrading the dining area.

The final decision on the winning company will be made mid-January.
