Barron County (WQOW) - A chase in Barron County ended with a crash and a man behind bars on several recommended charges.

According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, authorities tried to stop a driver in Cameron on Sunday morning at 4:12 a.m.

Instead of stopping, the sheriff said Delbert Whitehead, 43, of Rice Lake, took off and a chase ensued.

Fitzgerald said the driver was going around 100 mph during the 13-mile chase.

When Whitehead got near Chetek, spike strips were set up on Highway SS. He tried to turn around and when he did he hit a sheriff's deputy squad, according to Fitzgerald.

Whitehead was arrested for 2nd OWI, operating while revoked and felony fleeing. Formal charges haven't been filed.

Nobody was injured in the crash.
