Barron County (WQOW) - A jury has reached a verdict against a Barron County father charged in the death of his three-month-old baby.
Curtis Strand faced multiple counts in the case. Deputies said the child was found not breathing in July of 2017 and died in the hospital two days later.
Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the baby died from head trauma.
Detectives said Strand originally said nothing unusual happened the night the child was found not breathing, but he later said he dropped the infant on the hardwood floor while giving it a bottle.
The week-long hearing ended Friday afternoon.
After about 3 1/2 hours of deliberations, the jury found Strand not guilty of 1st degree reckless homicide but returned guilty verdicts on two other counts - 2nd degree reckless homicide and obstructing an officer.
He will remain in custody until his sentencing, which has yet to be set.
Based on the charges, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years, nine months in prison.
