Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire is gaining national recognition.
College Gazette named Eau Claire number 10 in the "Top 10 Best College Towns in the U.S." The list ranked towns in America based on quality of life metrics such as: performing arts, reasonable rent, safety and restaurants.
The site named Eau Claire because of the city's music and arts scene, mentioning the Eau Claire Jazz Fest, Blue Ox Music Festival and the Pablo Center. However, UW-Eau Claire's Chancellor said the university also plays a role in the town's charm.
"Having UW-Eau Claire's top notch music program has produced a lot of great musicians who then have connections back to the community and help making that a driving force of it," said Chancellor James Schmidt. "They've talked about the addition of the Pablo Arts Center and of course, without the University's involvement, the Pablo Center would not have been created."
Schmidt also believes UW-Eau Claire's new Sonnentag Complex will further add to Eau Claire's appeal by bringing in talent and entertainment to the community.
