Eau Claire County (WQOW) - An Eau Claire man has been charged with election fraud after voting in the 2018 fall election.

Chad Armstrong was charged with election fraud-providing false information to an election official on Thursday in Eau Claire County Court.

According to the criminal complaint, Armstrong was sentenced to three years of probation after being convicted of his 6th OWI offense.

A stipulation of that felony conviction was that Armstrong was not allowed to vote, but investigators say he cast a ballot in the 2018 fall election.

Armstrong will make his first court appearance at the end of the month.

If convicted, the maximum penalty is 3 1/2 years in prison.
