Eau Claire (WQOW) - Dozens gathered to protest in downtown Eau Claire on Saturday to encourage Rep. Ron Kind to vote against impeachment.

The protest was part of the "Stop the Madness" movement, launched by the Republican National Committee in September.

Organizers said they wanted to show Rep. Kind that the majority of voters in the district elected President Trump back in 2016 and support the work he's done while president, along with their opposition to Trump's potential removal from office.

Kind has not publicly stated how he plans to vote on the articles of impeachment, and the group said they hoped by making their voices heard, they can help influence the decision.

"I think that Congressman Kind has to understand that the men and women that voted in Donald Trump were the farmers, manufacturers, and they're part of the blue-collar recovery that's making this economy boom right now," said Jesse Garza, third vice chairman of the Republican Party of Wisconsin. "It's because of the ideas and policies of President Trump. So we need to make sure that Congressman Kind understands that, and fully understands it."

News 18 reached out to Rep. Kind's office and the Eau Claire County Democratic Party for a comment but has received no response as of now.
