Eau Claire County (WQOW) - Around 9 p.m. on Friday night, officials said a crash happened I-94 EB at mile marker 64.
According to officials, law enforcement was dispatched to a roll-over crash with a possible ejection. Upon arrival, a body was found lying on the eastbound lanes of I-94.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer was traveling westbound and entered the median before rolling several times and striking a guard rail.
The 41-year-old male driver of the vehicle, Elvis Mejia of Oak Creek, was ejected into the eastbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other passengers, Amy Mejia of Oak Creek, an 18-year-old from Milwaukee, whose name is not released, and a 15-year-old, whose name is also not released, were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, but are expected to recover.
Assisting agencies included Township Fire Department, Eau Claire Co. Sheriff’s Dept., Eau Claire Police Department, and Eau Claire Fire Department.
According to officials, none of the victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
