Madison (WQOW) - An Eau Claire native is getting the chance to once again skate on the international stage.

Ty Emberson, who played hockey at Eau Claire Memorial for two years, was selected to the U.S. National Junior Team preliminary roster.

Emberson is currently a sophomore defenseman for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Emberson joins three other Badgers on the 29-man preliminary roster. That roster will be cut down to 23 around Christmas Eve.

The 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship runs December 26 - January 5 in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.

Emberson was part of Team USA that won the 2016 winter games in Norway.

In his two seasons at Memorial, Emberson helped the squad reach back-to-back state tournament appearances. He won Big Rivers Conference Player of the Year and WIAA Defenseman of the Year in 2016.
