Two-year-old dies after being reported missing

(Update) - According to the Rice Lake Police Department, Sunday night's search for a missing two-year-old girl ended in tragedy.

In a press release, police say they responded to a call for the missing child around 9:30 P.M. At that point, the parents said the girl could have been missing for up to thirty minutes.

The police quickly launched a search party consisting of K-9 units and a drone as well as members of the community who responded to the original social media post.

Around 11 P.M. an officer using thermal imaging found the child unresponsive in the Red Cedar River. The two-year-old girl was then rushed to the hospital, where life-saving measures were done but were unsuccessful.
