Eau Claire police say public safety is top priority in light of recent shootings

Following two recent shootings this week in Eau Claire, police want the public to know keeping you and your family safe is their top priority.

Thursday evening, we learned of a suspected targeted shooting at a home on the corner of Broadview Blvd. and Golden Dr.

No one was hurt, but multiple bullet holes could be seen in the side of the home.

Another suspected targeted shooting earlier this week on Moholt Dr. left a tenant and their dog recovering from gunshot injuries.

Eau Claire police officer Bridget Coit said incidents like this are handled with extra care to ensure both the public and those targeted are in no further danger.

"We know that the public is concerned if the suspect is still at large, that they're at risk," said Coit. "But we really want to assure people that the suspect has targeted that individual victim for a certain reason, and we do not believe that there is a safety concern at this time."

Coit added that the police provides services, support and temporary housing if needed for victims of targeted crimes, so that they are not only protected, but feel safe.

Police currently have no updates to share about Thursday's incident, but the investigation is ongoing.
