Clark County (WQOW) -- Governor Tony Evers (D-WI) has named his choice for the next district attorney in Clark County.

On Tuesday, Gov. Evers announced he had appointed La Crosse County assistant district attorney Melissa Inlow to the role.

Inlow has served as a criminal prosecutor for more than a decade. Gov. Evers said she has extensive experience prosecuting white-collar crimes and sensitive victim cases.

In a release, Gov. Evers wrote: “Melissa Inlow has a deep commitment to justice and a long history of service to her community. She possesses great strength and great compassion, a perfect combination for a successful district attorney. Her experience and dedication will serve Clark County well."

Inlow will replace former Clark County District Attorney Kerra Stumbris, who resigned in late October. Inlow will serve the remainder of Stumbris' term, which ends in January 2021.
