Couple “rents out” homemade igloo in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Not everyone sees the snowy weather as a reason to miss out on all the winter fun.

One Arizona couple, in Eau Claire for the holidays, took it upon themselves to turn the weekend snowstorm into a “business venture.”

Amber Gerard and Brian Hankes joked on social media that they’re listing their most recent project, an igloo, for rent.

The “first-time builders” boast that their property, located conveniently in Brian’s parents’ front yard, comes fully furnished with one table and a bin for storage in the back, with cozy amenities like a decorative archway and chimney.

The two currently live in Phoenix and said it was fun to get back to Wisconsin where they can play with the snow.

“Because we were stuck at home, it was kind of nice to just get out of the house and experience the snow a little more than we would at home,” said Amber.

“Instead of sitting inside and doing nothing,” Brian added.

Sadly, the igloo is not actually for rent. However, Brian and Amber said with just three hours of free time, and a knife and bins to form blocks, you too can be the proud owner of a winter getaway.
