Chippewa Fall (WQOW) — The generosity of the Chippewa Valley community showed again this week. Jason’s Presents set a new fundraising goal this year.
Chippewa Family Restaurant donated 100% of its proceeds on Tuesday to the non-profit. Jason’s Presents gives Christmas gifts to area children and low-income families, along with other necessities. It was started in 2009 to honor Chippewa County Deputy Jason Zunker, who died in the line of duty in 2008.
This year, the event raised $19,000, which is $2,000 more than the previous record set in 2017. In the past ten years, the fundraiser has raised $152,000 to help area kids have a happy holiday.
The next step is for Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office deputies to go shopping, then host a Christmas party of the kids.
