Eau Claire church serves free Thanksgiving meals

Eau Claire (WQOW) – A local church was not only giving thanks on Thursday, but it also was giving back.

Saving Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire opened its doors to anyone and everyone to come and get a free Thanksgiving meal.

The church made sure to serve the classic turkey, green beans, potatoes and rolls.

Allison Otto, who organized the event with her sister Ashley, said they wanted to make sure everyone in the community was fed on Thanksgiving and had someone to share it with.

“Every year I have been blessed with being able to be with family during the day of Thanksgiving, and I know not everyone has that opportunity,” Otto said. “So I wanted to start something here that everyone was welcome to attend.”

This was the second year the church offered free meals. The Otto sisters said they hope it becomes a tradition in years to come.
