Trinity Lutheran Church prepares free meal for Thanksgiving

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The biggest feast of the year is just one day away and in preparation, one local church spent Wednesday afternoon getting ready to host its annual free Thanksgiving meal.

At Trinity Lutheran Church, members were laying out table settings and chopping away in the kitchen.

In order to feed the expected 500 people, volunteers are preparing to serve 50 turkeys, 200 pounds worth of mashed potatoes, 100 pies, and plenty of other turkey day staples.

The feast will also include a kids craft corner and a to-go station so people can pack up their leftovers.

Co-chair volunteer Dawn Marcott described Wednesday’s atmosphere as festive and said church members love making this annual meal together.

“That’s part of the mission at Trinity, is to do for others,” said Marcott. “And so this is just part of who we are. We’ve been doing it for years. We love to offer this free meal.”

Whether you’re looking for a hot meal or just want some company, Trinity says anyone is welcome to join Thursday afternoon.

The church will be serving at two separate times: once at 11:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m.
