(WQOW) – A Republican state representative announced he is running to unseat a Democratic senator.
Rob Stafsholt is running for the 10th Wisconsin Senate seat. The lawmaker out of New Richmond has served two terms in the Assembly. He said he is running to lower taxes and promote economic development.
Stafsholt will face a primary challenge from Cherie Link, a business owner from Somerset.
Both are running to flip the seat held by Democratic Senator Patty Schachtner. Her victory in the January 2018 special election earned national attention at the time because the district had historically voted Republican.
The general election is scheduled for November 3 of next year.
