Woman pleads guilty to stealing nearly $20,000 from Eau Claire County

Eau Claire County (WQOW) – A woman accused of stealing nearly $20,000 from Eau Claire County while working in the finance department has pleaded guilty.

Police said Susan O’Connor was hired as a temporary employee through a local staffing agency.

In July of 2018, she’s accused of writing a $15,000 county check to herself, and another for nearly $5,000 to her landlord. Investigators say she used the money to pay bills, pay back loans and take a trip to Pennsylvania.

Thursday, she pleaded guilty to both counts against her. She faces a maximum penalty of more than 13 years in prison at her sentencing which has yet to be scheduled.
