Eau Claire (WQOW) — In division six, a pair of unbeaten teams remain in level four. As Eau Claire Regis (12-0) and Abbotsford (12-0) will clash in the state semifinal Friday night.
Each team captured their conference title this season, as the Ramblers won the Cloverbelt and the Falcons clinched the Cloverwood. Both teams also have dynamic offenses on the ground. Abbotsford has rushed for 4,488 yards this season with 61 touchdowns, while Regis has totaled 3,269 yards on the ground with 57 touchdowns.
The Falcons’ backfield is led by senior quarterback Dalton Feddick (2,009 yards, 23 touchdowns), who leads the team in rushing yards and touchdowns. But he also has a dynamic one-two punch in Ty Faltesiek (1,049 yards, 13 touchdowns) and Cade Faber (967 yards, 15 touchdowns), who have proved to be dangerous carrying the ball as well.
On defense, Abbotsford has given up 20.3 points/game, with opponents averaging 236.6 yards/game. They are led by senior linebacker Blake Draper, who leads the team with 160 total tackles. And even though the Falcons have had some tight contests so far this postseason, Ramblers head coach Bryant Brenner knows this game will be a battle.
“They’ve got a great team. They’re really well coached, so we’ve got a huge amount of respect for them. It will be a matter of how many stops we can get, to see if we can hang with them,” Brenner says. “It’s going to be a battle. Our kids have really prepared for this year round, and they’re ready to meet the challenge. There’s no way around it, going to be a huge battle.”
The game will be played at Dorais Field in Chippewa Falls Friday night, kick-off set for 7 p.m.
