11/14: Interview – The Stand in the Light Memory Choir’s “Our Songs” Concert

The Stand in the Light Memory Choir uses the power of singing to move people with memory loss and their care partners to rediscover themselves, make new friends, laugh together, and contribute to their community.

They will be holding a concert to show off all the members’ skills and how much the group has grown. In their fourth year, the group has grown to 54 choir members with memory loss, their care partners, and volunteers.

Songs in the program were all suggestions from the choir, hence the title “Our Songs.” There will also be an original piece commissioned by the choir. The song “Angels of Dementia” features music by Dennis Luginbill and lyrics by Iva Peck, a member with early-onset dementia.

The concert will take place on Thursday, November 21, at 6:30 pm at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Audience seating starts at 6:15 PM with a reception to follow. The cost is free with donations accepted.
