Eau Claire (WQOW) – Move over Snoopy and Spiderman, some Eau Claire high school students will be marching to steal the show at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Five Memorial High School marching band members were chosen as the best of the best.
The students submitted a five-minute audition tape to the Macy’s Great American Marching Band last fall. The band picks the top student musicians in the country to take part in the parade.
The Memorial students found out they’ll be marching back in March, and have been working on perfecting their craft ever since.
Memorial High School’s band director, Eric Dasher, said being selected for the Macy’s Great American Marching Band is quite the honor.
“I’m very proud of the students. We have a great program and these kids are really kind of the cream of the crop of the program, and it should be a great experience,” Dasher said.
Dasher said the students just received the music they will be performing, and are working round the clock to hit the right notes.
The group has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover the travel expenses. If you’d like to donate, click here.
