Eau Claire County (WQOW) – The DNR says it has confirmed another case of chronic wasting disease in Eau Claire County.
Officials said a buck harvested in October tested positive for CWD, the fourth such case in the county since the fall of 2017.
The DNR is strongly encouraging all deer harvested in Eau Claire, Chippewa, Dunn, Pepin, Buffalo and Trempealeau counties be tested for CWD.
The disease is fatal for deer, moose and elk, but experts say there is no evidence it can cause people to get sick.
