Eau Claire (WQOW) – An area man with an alleged history of writing bad checks for big-ticket items is accused of doing it again.
Ryan Sturz was charged Monday with five felonies.
According to the criminal complaint, Sturz wrote bad checks to Eau Claire area businesses when purchasing numerous vehicles and other equipment worth more than $87,000.
Detectives say he would sometimes eventually return the items at night while other items remain missing.
Sturz is due in court on Wednesday for a plea hearing and sentencing on similar charges that were filed last year in Chippewa County.
In that case, the thefts totaled more than $138,000. Sturz told police he did it to support his cocaine habit.
