Madison (WQOW) – A dozen counties in Wisconsin are closer to getting another circuit court branch after the Assembly approved a bill on Tuesday.
In our area, branches would be added in Eau Claire, Dunn, Clark and Jackson counties.
Back in April, Eau Claire County officials wanted to add a sixth courtroom. At that time, they said the request was fueled by the ongoing opioid and meth crises as well as the growing population.
This would be the first addition of circuit court branches in Wisconsin since 2007.
The bill still needs approval by the Senate before it goes to Governor Evers.
