7 kittens found living inside dead Eau Claire County tree as it was being cut down

Dunn County (WQOW) – They say cats have nine lives and a few kittens in Eau Claire County may be down a few after luckily being found inside of a dead tree that was coming down.

Dregney Tree Service was cutting down a 200-year-old hollowed oak tree. When it came time to cut the trunk down, it split into two pieces. When it fell, workers discovered kittens inside.

The workers initially thought they were squirrels, but quickly realized they were actually kittens buried in the dirt inside the tree.

Workers say had the tree not split open, they would have been buried alive or carried off to a brush site without even knowing it. They say the kittens were only two weeks old when they were found.

If you are interested in adopting one or more of the kittens, you can submit an application to the Eau Claire County Humane Association. They should be ready for adoption in roughly two weeks.
