The flu is a serious disease. Each year thousands of people die due because of complications related to the flu, and it can lead to other diseases like pneumonia and bacterial infections, especially in people who are over the age of 50, people with long-term health problems, and children.
The best way to not get the flu is to get a flu shot. It also helps protect your loved ones who might be at a higher risk of the disease.
One common misconception about the flu shot is that you can get the flu from it. That is false. While some individuals may get a sore arm or a mild fever, serious complications are very rare.
The best time to get your flu shot is around the end of October and beginning of November. You can get your flu shots at local clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, and health departments.
