Fall Creek, Bloomer send off volleyball teams to state with rallies

Fall Creek/Bloomer (WQOW) – The WIAA State Girl’s Volleyball Tournament kicked off on Thursday and two area schools are making the trip for the very first time.

In Fall Creek, the high school sent the girls off in style with a pep rally Thursday morning.

Team captain Quinlyn Rubeck said a lot of the players have been playing volleyball since they were in fourth grade never thinking they would end up at the state tournament.

“It’s super awesome. It’s something that every team dreams of and the fact that we get to do it together, just the whole team being in it, all for one, one for all, and that’s just super awesome,” Rubeck said.

The Crickets are 40-3 on the season and need two more wins to bring back a state title.

Up in Bloomer, the girl’s volleyball team is also playing in the state tournament for the first time.

The whole school sent them off with a pep rally full of cheering, music and even some tears.

The school district has canceled classes for Friday to give everyone the chance to head to Green Bay to support the team.

“It’s just amazing knowing that when we go out on the court, we’re going to have a great student section and our fans are going to be cheering us on so it’s awesome,” said co-captain Shantelle Ruf.

After the pep rally, the team boarded the bus and was led out of town with squad cars and a firetruck.
