Listen: Emergency call from man caught in guy-wire while parachuting from Menomonie tower

Menomonie (WQOW) – For the first time we are hearing the emergency call placed by a man who got stuck in a guy-wire while base jumping from a Charter Communication tower in Menomonie.

Mason Barth was charged last week with criminal trespass to an energy provider property.

In an interview with police, Barth stated he has “base-jumped” from a few bridges in Minnesota but never in Wisconsin. He admitted seeing a “no trespassing” sign after entering the property, but climbed and jumped off of the 300-foot communication tower anyway.

In the emergency call with dispatchers, you hear Barth say he is in an “interesting predicament.” He tells the dispatcher he was hanging about 50 feet up and he knew he was going to get in trouble for it.

You can listen to the phone recording in the video player above.
