Eau Claire (WQOW) – A Menomonie pumpkin grower and carver impressed crowds at Ferguson’s by making a masterpiece out of a pumpkin that weighs over 1,400 pounds.
Shannon and Jodi Engel have been growing and carving giant pumpkins for years, but the pumpkin they carved Sunday was their biggest grown to date.
Shannon said carving up pumpkins this size can take up him up to eight hours to complete.
He said they partake in the hobby to make people’s days brighter.
“Everybody loves pumpkins,” Shannon said. “Pumpkins bring smiles to people’s faces. You go to a pumpkin patch like Ferguson’s and they’re always ‘ooh’-ing and ‘ah’-ing over the pumpkins.”
The Engels’ creation is out for a couple more weeks at Ferguson’s Orchard. The orchard closes for the season Nov. 3.
