Eau Claire church makes meals to combat hunger

Eau Claire (WQOW) – A local church is packing more than 100,000 meals to send to children facing hunger worldwide.

Peace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire teamed up for the third year in a row with Feed My Starving Children to make nutritious meals for people in need in 70 different countries.

Fourth graders from Manz Elementary helped in packaging the food to learn about helping others.

The church says the experience is humbling.

“We’re over here where food is prevalent, and it’s easy to find a meal. We think we’re poor, but then we look on the other side and wow, we live pretty lavish lifestyles,” said the church mission director, Jordan Van Proosdy.

The event continues Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those interested in helping can sign up for a shift by contacting the church (715-834-2486).
