Helping Hands hosts donation drive for tornado victims

Elk Mound (WQOW) – A Chippewa Valley non-profit is helping those impacted by last month’s tornado.

Items are available through a community closet hosted by Helping Hands for our Neighbors.

Tornado victims and anyone else in need can pick up clothes, shoes and books as well as bedding and hygiene products for free.

Director Shauna Hanson said they distributed items earlier in the week, giving necessities to 19 families.

“It is the best feeling in the whole entire world to see people walk in who have nothing and leave with their arms full of bags of stuff that they need,” Hanson said.

Distribution goes until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Elk Mound Middle School.

If you can’t stop by, contact Hanson for information on how to donate or collect items. Her number is 608-799-0178. Her email is
