Eau Claire (WQOW) – Ask Memorial High School senior Josie Syverson what her life is like outside of the classroom, she can sum it up quick.
“I’m really involved in 4-H. That kind of runs my life,” Syverson said.
For 11 years, she has been leading almost every office in her 4-H club and now this year she’s leading as president.
One thing she wants everyone to know: everyone and anyone is welcome to join.
“I like how everyone can be involved, it’s not just the country folk like everyone thinks,” Syverson said.
As commander-in-chief, she was active in the Eau Claire County Fair including helping out at the Dairy Shack.
“That’s down by the barns and you can get pretty much anything with cheese,” she said.
As her time in high school is winding down, Syverson is focusing on her next chapter. For college, she’s looking close to home at UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout.
“I was hoping that if I do stay local I can keep my job or find another one just as well and stay in 4-H as well.”
As she takes a look back, she’s urging others to find the love she has found in 4-H.
“I would tell them to just do it because you can find your niche anywhere,” Syverson said. “There is horseless horse, where you don’t even need to have the animals to do the project and there’s just a bunch of arts and photography and youth leadership. Which is also really fun.”
