Foggy now, warm later

It’s another foggy morning across Wisconsin. Visibility is low across the state, and most of the Chippewa Valley is under a Dense Fog Advisory until 10 a.m.

You’ll especially notice the fog in valleys and low-lying areas this morning, so take some extra time and caution on the roads as you’re heading out the door. Visibility may be less than a quarter mile in some places and can change quickly.

The good news is visibility will start to improve, and fog will be gone by mid morning.

We expect to continue our streak of 80 degree days today. That would make today our sixth day in a row that we hit 80 degrees in Eau Claire. The average high for today is actually only 70 degrees, so we are running above average for the last week of summer.

Once the fog lifts later this morning, today will be another humid, but partly cloudy day. There is a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms this afternoon into this evening. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms late.

Thunderstorms will be more likely on Saturday as a cold front approaches and pushes through.

Sunday will be partly cloudy with highs near 70. Starting Sunday, we will finally see a break in the humidity and return to more seasonable temperatures as we head into the first official day of fall on Monday. Next week will start dry and comfortable with highs in the low 70s. Shower chances will not return again until the middle of next week.
