Chippewa County (WQOW) — Formal charges have been filed against an Eau Claire man accused of stabbing two people in Chippewa County.
According to the criminal complaint, it happened September 8 at Joseph Moldrem’s home on 20th Avenue in the Town of Wheaton.
Tuesday in Chippewa County court, Joseph Moldrem was charged with 2nd degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon, substantial battery with use of a dangerous weapon and possession of THC.
According tot he criminal complaint, Moldrem told police a couple was arguing throughout the night and the fight was starting to turn physical. Moldrem said he told the couple to leave the home because of their behavior. He said he called both of them a derogatory name.
He said this set the male victim off. Moldrem said the man took out a pocketknife and began to attack him. During the tussle, Moldrem told police he was able to get the knife away when the female victim tackled him and he ‘blacked out’.
Moldrem said he did not remember stabbing either victim. Both victims told police it was Moldrem who stabbed them.

Authorities said both victims required surgery. A nurse at Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire told deputies that the male victim had ‘coded’ and had a damaged aorta with severe bleeding.
Authorities said they never found the knife, but did find several marijuana-related items in the home.
Moldrem is being held on $20,000 cash bond. His initial appearance is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
