Ceremony held in Cadott to remember those who died on 9/11

Cadott (WQOW)- Eighteen years ago, the United States was attacked, and still to this day we remember September 11, 2001.

Events to honor the fallen and the first responders of 9/11 were held across the country Wednesday, including in our area.

In Cadott, the VFW hosted a special ceremony at the Armed Forces Memorial. Organizers rang a bell at the exact time each plane hit, which was followed by a moment of silence.

Larry Buttke, a member of the Cadott Veterans Tribute, said they’ve held the ceremony for the past five years because they want to honor the fallen, and show them they will never forget.

“I feel this was an attack on the United States at the time,” Buttke said. “People just have to keep remembering it, we will never forget.”

Buttke said at the ceremony they also paid tribute to Patricia Statz, a Chippewa Falls native who lost her life in 2001 while working at the Pentagon.
