Hy-Vee store approved for old Kmart location off Clairemont in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Eau Claire is getting a new grocery store.

Monday night the Plan Commission approved the proposal for Hy-Vee to build a new grocery store on the old Kmart lot off Clairemont.

The vacant Kmart building will be torn down and Hy-Vee will be built on the 10-acre property. The store’s entrance will face Memorial High School.

The Iowa-based chain will offer a deli, florist, pharmacy, post office, even a coffee shop and food court. That’s in addition to the typical grocery and personal care departments.

Demolition could begin as early as spring.
