(WQOW) – Governor Tony Evers is requesting a federal disaster declaration for 18 counties and two tribes after severe storms ripped through the state in July.
FEMA was in Wisconsin last week doing assessments. Evers said FEMA verified the severe weather caused more than $19.5 million in eligible damage July 18-20.
If approved by President Trump, the federal disaster declaration would make federal funds available to rebuild infrastructure for the counties impacted, with FEMA footing 75% of the bill and the state and local communities covering the rest.
Counties in our area included in Governor Evers’ request include Barron, Clark, Polk and Rusk.
