Friends, coworkers remember Bridget A. German at candlelight vigil

Town of Lafayette (WQOW) – Three weeks after she was found murdered by her son, a vigil was held Monday for Bridget A. German, on the night that would’ve been her birthday.

Friends, family, and colleagues were invited to the Family Fare grocery store in Lafayette, where she was worked, to celebrate her life. They sang songs, shared memories, and told stories about their friend.

“She was always so friendly, outgoing, loved everybody, and was a friend to everybody as this testimonial right here shows,” said Gordy Schafer. “We all have our favorite memories of Bridget, we all know that Bridget did not have an easy life. That she had a very troubled life, she had lots of problems, but she never… never showed it.”

The Chippewa county Sheriff’s Department is still looking for clues to shed light on the case. They’ve asked anyone who had contact with Ritchie German Jr. to come forward as they try to learn more about him and any possible motive he could’ve had for killing four people and shooting two others. They have a tipline they’ve set up, that number is: (715) 726-4563. You can also submit an online tip here.
