Eau Claire man accused of punching pregnant woman agrees to plea deal

Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man accused of punching a pregnant woman in the stomach reached a plea deal with prosecutors on Thursday.

The victim told police that Charles Morgan asked her if he could stay at her home because he was homeless. She told police when she refused, Morgan punched her repeatedly in the face and stomach. He then ran off with her cell phone.

Several of Morgan’s cases were combined as part of the plea agreement. Thursday, he pleaded no contest to delivery of methamphetamine, two counts of bail jumping and a count of domestic battery.

Eau Claire County Judge Jon Theisen sentenced him to 60 days in jail. Another 120 days in jail and 36 months of probation was stayed, meaning if he does not re-offend, Morgan avoids serving those penalties. He’s also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety and is not allowed to have any contact with the victim or her parents.
