Eau Claire (WQOW)- An Eau Claire native will soon be packing his bags and heading to India, to serve as an ambassador and delegate to the 2019 International Forum on Youth Services.
Joe Luginbill, a member of the Eau Claire School Board, was selected to participate in the global summit.
He’ll be part of discussions on a wide variety of topics from sustainability, entrepreneurship and inequalities and how the role that youth can play in the solutions.
There will be 125 delegates there from around the world, and Luginbill said he looks forward to discussing a few of the topics he’s passionate about.
“Youth homelessness, the poverty that children are experiencing, potential solutions to that and approaches that have worked in other communities and other countries,” Luginbill said. “Also looking at making sure that we’re able to meet global goals of expanding primary education to children all around the world.”
Luginbill said a full report on the summit will presented to the United Nations and other international organizations.
He said change always takes time, and takes a community to make an impact.
Luginbill leaves in September for the two-day summit in India.
