Eau Claire church organizes back to school donation drive

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – The “Love Eau Claire” event is being held from 5 – 7 p.m. in Phoenix Park on Monday, August 5.

Peace Church is helping families prepare for the upcoming school year.

Geared toward Eau Claire Area School District families in need, the event lets students and their families fill out forms requesting school supplies and clothing.

Alongside the requests – free haircuts, warm meals, groceries from Feed My People and games will all be provided.

After the event, all forms are organized by ECASD elementary schools before being taken by donating families, known as “Peace Families.”

From there, Peace Families purchase clothing, backpacks and school supplies for the entire family they have received. The churches and groups partnering with the program then deliver the items to the schools before the first day.

You can still sign up for help or volunteer as a Peace Family by registering on Peace Church’s website.

Organizers told News 18 the event will happen rain or shine.
