Local products LaRock, Gilles helping Express with a playoff push

Eau Claire (WQOW) — The Express are right in the middle of a playoff race for the second half of the season, and local products Adam LaRock and Zach Gilles are doing there parts on the field to help out.

Eau Claire currently trails both Duluth and La Crosse by one game heading into Wednesday night, will eleven games left in the regular season. The Express have struggled the last three games against Willmar at Carson Park, and timely hitting has been a major factor. But despite the recent struggles at home, both LaRock and Gilles think their clubhouse has what it takes to chase down first place in the final stretch of the season.

“We try not to think about that much, but it’s always in the back of our minds that it’s there,” says LaRock. “And if we keep taking each day as it comes, the next thing you know you’re right there at the doorstep and you’re able to take it. So you never know.”

“Knowing that, I think it will give us a little extra spark of energy,” Gilles says. “Knowing that the playoffs are in reach, and I think we’ll go out there and just compete at our best and hope for the best.”

The Express wrap up their series with Willmar Wednesday night at Carson Park, then head to Duluth with a big two games against the Huskies starting Thursday at 6:35 p.m.
