Gov. Evers decides against sales tax holiday in 2019

Wisconsin (WQOW) – If you still need to get your back-to-school shopping done, don’t expect any extra help from the state.

Last year for the first time, Wisconsin hosted a sales tax holiday to help parents pay for things like school supplies, electronics and clothing without having to pay the state’s 5% sales tax.

This week, Governor Tony Evers said the tax-free holiday will not be making a return this year, adding he did not think the incentive enacted under Scott Walker actually worked.
